Safe Separation of Fine Metal Dust and Fumes During Laser Processing
During laser processing of metals, the fumes generated by cutting, welding, marking or construction contain large quantities of toxic aerosols and gases, as well as fine dust in the respirable range, all of which pose a considerable health hazard to operators. These not only damage and contaminate the optics of the laser, but also affect the aggregates and the products to be processed. Therefore, reliable, efficient and high-standard filters are required in the laser and laser processing sector.
HERDING sintered plate filter systems achieve pure surface filtration during operation and have been proven to reliably separate even the finest dust fractions. Combined with effective fume detection, people, machines and the environment are continuously protected from harmful emissions. HERDING filter element operate under absolutely stable operating conditions and have an extremely long service life, which can exceed 10 years depending on the process.
Safe Filtration for All Laser Processing Applications
Laser-assisted metal processing requires various cutting, welding and/or marking processes, as well as different laser technologies. The characteristics of the emissions to be separated play a decisive role in the laser technology and its power. In addition, the sheets or metal structures to be processed may be contaminated with oil or deep-drawing grease residues. The resulting emissions have a corresponding fine particle distribution and are often sticky and combustible.
HERDING sintered plate filter systems offer the optimal equipment configuration for reliable separation under stable operating conditions and are suitable for all types of laser metal processing. Efficient spark pre-separators with specially scalable air volumes can be integrated into the system. This ensures the safe separation of sparks and ultrafine dust to the greatest possible extent.

Herding Sintered Plate Dust Collection System With Fire Extinguishing Function
Depending on actual operating conditions, the HERDING sintered plate dust collection system can also be equipped with a fire extinguishing system:
Fire Detection
The detection cable can detect fires both during the suction operation and when the filter unit is at a standstill.
Fire Alarm
Signal processing for fire detection, signal transmission for fire extinguishing, and external alarm transmission (as a potential-free contact) are all carried out by the fire alarm control unit. The filter is equipped with an audible and visual alarm. If necessary, it will automatically shut down and release the extinguishing agent to put out the fire.
Fire Extinguishing
In this way, automatic fire detection, fire alarm and fire extinguishing can successfully extinguish many types of dust-induced fires.
Herding Pre-Coater
For sticky and combustible dusts, a pre-coater can also be equipped. By adding an appropriate amount of suitable additives during the filtration process, it is possible to both reduce the risk of adhesion to the filter media and reduce the combustibility of the dust.
